This 4-day Uganda wildlife safari expedition takes you to Kidepo Valley National Park, often cited by CNN as one of Africa’s most beautiful wildernesses. Located in the remote northeastern corner of Uganda, Kidepo offers a pristine landscape of vast golden savannas and craggy mountain ranges that feel untouched by time.
Your journey begins with an early morning pickup from Kampala or Entebbe. Given the remote location, this is a long but incredibly scenic drive through the evolving landscapes of central and northern Uganda. You will pass through the Luwero triangle and Gulu city, stopping for a local lunch along the way. As you enter the Karamoja sub-region, the horizon opens up into dramatic plains. You will arrive at your lodge in the late evening, just in time for a warm dinner under the starlit northern sky.
Rise early for a game drive into the Narus Valley, where wildlife congregates around the park’s permanent water sources. You will likely spot massive herds of Cape buffalo, elephants, Rothschild giraffes, and Burchell’s zebras. Kidepo is also the only park in Uganda where you can see the cheetah and the bat-eared fox.

In the afternoon, you will drive toward the Kidepo Valley near the South Sudan border to visit the Kanangorok Hot Springs. This area offers stunning views of the Morungole Mountains and is a prime spot for seeing ostriches and Secretary birds.
Spend your morning visiting a local Manyatta (homestead) to interact with the Karamojong people. This cultural encounter provides a deep insight into their traditional nomadic lifestyle, unique dress, and cattle-centric heritage.

In the late afternoon, embark on an evening game drive to search for predators like lions and leopards as they begin their nightly hunt. The sight of a lion perched on one of the park’s massive granite outcrops (kopjes) at sunset is an iconic Kidepo experience.
After an early breakfast, enjoy a brief sunrise game drive to catch a final glimpse of the park's "special" species. You will then begin your return journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. A lunch stop will be made in Gulu or Kitgum as you reflect on the incredible isolation and beauty of the Karamoja wilderness. You will arrive at your drop-off point in the late evening, concluding your 4-day "True African Wilderness" safari.
